Assignment #1 Advanced Portrait “Hollywood Lighting”

Our first assignment for Advanced Portrait this spring is “Hollywood Lighting”.  This was a black and white assignment and we studied the works of George Hurrell a famous photographer who worked in the style.  I shot this assignment with grid spots on my key light and hair light and a reflective umbrella for the fill light.  Lisa was my model for this shoot.

Creative Photography Assignment #4 “Street Shaman”

This is my fourth assignment for Creative Photography.  The concept is “Street Shaman”.  This shoot was done as a character concept photo illustration project.  It’s also somewhat inspired by the super hero comic book genre.  Like a super hero the street shaman hides her identity with a mask which in her case is painted on which is intended to be remnissant of warpaint.  The street shaman weilds naturalistic and elemental magic against her enemies as well as conventional weapons keeping one foot in the reality of the modern world and one foot in the mystical magical world of nature.

Creative Photography Assignment 1: Self Portrait

The first assignment for the Creative Photography class I am in this semester at UCM was “Self Portrait”.  Being a “creative” class obviously a standard self-portrait wouldn’t do.  Rather than doing a set of portraits about me and what I do I decided to do a series about who I might have become if I had made different choices, associated with different people, and been raised with different family values. 

 This portrayal of myself as a “Redneck” is intended to be a satire.  So the series is a lie about myself but like any good lie there is a bit of truth to it.
